Three Prizes of $100.00 and publication in Third Wednesday's Spring Contest issue. (March 2021)
Non-prize poems will be considered for inclusion in an issue of Third Wednesday as a regular submission with the author's permission. Simultaneous submissions are allowed, but please be a good poetry citizen and inform us if your work is accepted elsewhere.
We’re pleased to announce that our judge for this year’s contest is Joy Gaines-Friedler. Joy has taught as a guest instructor at Wayne State University, Michigan State, Frostburg State University, and at the Lapeer Correctional Facility for the Prison Creative Arts Project (PCAP) through the University of Michigan where she worked with male “lifers.”
Twenty years a professional photographer Joy sees poetry as a natural extension of the photographic art form: both use images, contrast, tensions, a kind of rhythm and tone to convey what language alone, cannot. You can find her complete bio and links to her work at http://www.joygainesfriedler.com/.
Third Wednesday's annual poetry contest will accept entries of up to 3 previously unpublished poems between November 1, 2020, and February 15, 2021. Poems should be in a single .doc or .docx file with no identifying information within the text of the file. You may enter as many times as you like, but only three poems per entry.
Winning poems will be published in our spring issue near the end of March, 2021. Winners and honorable mentions will receive a print copy of the magazine. Additional copies can be purchased from Amazon and a free electronic edtion will be available from our website.
You can choose to pay via credit card or Pay Pal by selecting your choice when you submit. No entries will be accepted by mail or email.
We use Submittable to accept and review our submissions.
